25 and 26 June Invicta Competition Herne Bay Pier Pavilion
The Club's Competition Squad performed brilliantly and both skaters and coaches (Lisa and Stephanie were there) were full of pride to win 24 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze medals as well as the Invicta Shield for the visiting Club with the most medal points.
The Competition was tinged with a little sadness as this was the last Artistic Roller Skating Competition to be held on the Pier prior to its planned demolition.
Temperatures soared on Sunday and there were opportunities to make use of the beach and to sample the tasty fish and chips from the shop opposite the pier. Everyone had a great weekend. (See results page for detailed results).

Please bring any books you wish to donate.
We will also have second hand skating and other clothes for sale at Club Sessions.

Medway Cups 27 November 2010
We hosted this Inter Club Competition at Strood Sports Centre. The Sports Centre heating did not raise the indoor temperature sufficiently above the icy conditions outside. The skating floor felt more like an ice rink and was quite a challenge. Nevertheless, everyone had a good time. Our skaters did well - see Results page. Well done to Miguela and Charlie who skated in a Competition for the first time. The fundraising went well - £53 Raffle, £40 Number Board, £21.70 Tombola. This was due to the group of excellent young salesmen. A special mention must go to Alison who persisted until the number board was full and all the tombola prizes were gone. Gail cooked a delicious Chile con Carne which warmed up the Judges and helpers. An excellent day !!
Friday 19 November - BBC Children in Need event at Medway Park
This was a large scale event, organised by the Medway Youth Service, with the aim of raising money for Children in Need as part of the BBC initiative. The purpose of the event was also to give young people a chance to find out more about activities available in the area. There were displays or 'have a go' opportunities in Archery, Martial Arts, Synchronised swimming, dance, Badminton etc.. We provided a spectacular half hour display which clearly impressed our audience - well done everyone.
We handed over a cheque for £185.36 which was raised at our Halloween Party on 30 October.
Friday 12 November - Medway Sports Awards 2010
We were very proud to achieve a Bronze Award in the 'Club of the Year' category.

Douglas and James came close to achieving an Award in the 'Unsung Heroes' category. They may not have won an award, but at the Club we all see them as heroes because of all the work they do for the Club. Douglas and James put a lot of enthusiasm and effort into helping and supporting all our skaters.
The Awards ceremony was held at the St. George's Centre, Chatham Maritime. It was a grand and enjoyable event, with good food and wine. The ceremony was attended by Douglas, James, Kiera, Vic, Val, Jenny, Stephanie, Anne, Michelle and Linda.

Saturday 30 October - Halloween Party
The low green lighting and hanging spiders and skeletons created a spooky atmosphere, aided by the eerie music. Almost everyone present was in costume and the whirling witches, ghosts and ghouls were quite a spectacle. Skaters of all ages threw themselves into the Sponsored Halloween Roller Skating Challenge with gusto - anything to raise money for Children in Need. Bethany appeared to fall badly and an alarming pool of blood collected around her. Thankfully it turned out to be fake blood. This party was EXCITING and everyone had a great time.
Prize winners were as follows:
Fancy Dress - First Prize Amber
Second Prize Bethany
Family Prize Anna and family
Guessing Number of Smarties in the Jar - Gail
Wolves Dinner Chase Game - Charlie and Jess
Forthcoming Events
Club Show
Because a lot of interest was expressed, we are planning another spectacular Wizzywheels production. The Wizard of Oz is proposed. Club Members of all ages and ability levels will be able to join the cast. Work will start in the near future.
